Mensagem from Lisbon has been working on fostering civic participation and a sense of belonging in urban communities in Lisbon. Mensagem de Lisboa is bridging the news divide within Lisbon’s underreported communities with Narratives, a community storytelling initiative that brings the newsroom to places rarely covered by the media. But this is never made without the participation of the communities. Mensagem teamed up with young individuals from these communities to narrate and share their untold stories with a broader audience. Two members of the Narratives projects – non journalists, “normal” people – will join us in this pannel to tell this story from their side, to expose their criticism on the media and help us understand what more we can do to not let them down. Are we ready?
