For too long, the journalism industry has been dominated by key performance indicators (KPIs) that don't always align with the true essence of quality journalism. The risk is that metrics like clicks, views, and engagement take precedence over the depth, accuracy, and impact of our stories.

However, with the emergence of constructive journalism, we have an opportunity to redefine what quality means for journalism. Do we just want to inform as many as possible as fast as possible or do we seek to empower audience with solutions, hope and insights? Do we focus solely on capturing attention, or do we seek to create meaningful, lasting impact.

At the Constructive Institute, we believe that AI can play a crucial role in this transformation. We have created the “Constructive News Mirror” designed to assess and improve the quality of constructive journalism, providing newsrooms with a powerful tool to measure their impact and guide their editorial decisions. Developed by journalists for journalists, this tool ensures that the industry maintains control over its own standards and priorities.

Transparency and ethics are at the core of our approach. At the Constructive Institute, we remain optimistic about the potential of AI. BUT we firmly believe in the irreplaceable value of the human touch. Curation and human connections are more important than ever in journalism.
