Come with us on a journey exploring Bonn Institute’s recent book publication „Psychology for Journalists”! Through experiential learning, we will look into how insights from psychological science can support constructive approaches in journalism. Learn more about principles of information processing and biases in judgment; how people — including journalists — draw conclusions or involuntarily rely on prejudice, when they feel engaged and empowered vs. helpless. In the book, we also explore how journalists’ stories are affected by language and pictures in reporting. A final chapter is dedicated to mental health in journalism. In this session, we provide research-based practical tools that facilitate a constructive mindset in everyday journalistic work, and give concrete tips on each of the issues addressed. The book is available in English and German. This launch session is presented by the authors, who are happily available for discussions afterwards. Ellen Heinrichs, Bonn Institute founder and CEO, will give an introduction.
