Images have a huge impact on our lives - we increasingly communicate visually, whether via WhatsApp, as memes or on Tiktok. Which feelings we connect to a topic, which aspects we find important and how we categorize things— images play a large part in all of this. Our brain thinks visually. What does this mean for constructive journalism? laif photographer Patricia Kühfuss is convinced that we cannot afford to rely on stock photography and A.I. generated images when reporting on complex topics. Using examples from her work, she takes the audience on a journey exploring the paradigms of photojournalism: How are photographs created, selected and perceived in everyday editorial work? Which aesthetic mechanisms should be taken into account and which stumbling blocks occur? To think constructively about the urgently needed new journalistic narratives — we should do so not only in text, but also in images.
