Marie Louise Hansel grew up in the countryside with a strong environmental awareness and loves spending her free time with her dog in the woods (though the dog prefers chilling on the couch). She studied German Studies, Comparative Literature, and Theater Studies, and after graduating, initially worked as a project manager in the independent cultural scene. Starting in 2013, she managed calendar projects as an editor for the publishing brands Harenberg and Lappan.

Since 2020, she has been working as a project manager at RiffReporter, overseeing various foundation projects. During this time, she has supported research projects like "Countdown Natur" and "Countdown Earth," as well as projects funded by the European Journalism Centre such as "The Hidden Sources of Clean Water" and "Lessons from Africa." She is dedicated to strengthening Solutions Journalism at RiffReporter and implementing it in the research projects. In 2023, together with the EJC, she participated in the IMedD International Journalism Forum in Athens, where she and Juliette Gerbais conducted a workshop introducing Solutions Journalism.
