Miriam Wells is impact editor and deputy development director at The Examination, a global investigative public health newsroom. Previously a reporter, producer, foreign correspondent and editor across print, TV, radio and digital, she pioneered the role of impact editor at her former workplace, the Bureau of Investigative Journalism in the UK. She has developed a strategy to maximise the real world change sparked by journalism by embedding impact thinking and community participation throughout the editorial process and newsroom culture, whilst staying firmly on the side of journalism, not activism. She consults with newsrooms and organisations around the world who want to amplify the power of their reporting.
