Priti Salian is an independent Indian journalist and author of the fortnightly newsletter Reframing Disability. As a human rights journalist, Priti has covered the intersections of disability, gender, and global health in India, Germany and Uganda for the Guardian, BBC, NBC, Lancet, etc. She is an accredited media trainer of Gender Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, and Solutions Journalism. In 2022, she researched disability inclusion in India’s news and newsrooms at Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism.

But with 16% of the world’s population recorded as disabled and many more uncounted and invisible, disability is more common than we think.
